Voice over game: dub any scene, free, in your browser

Call it a voice acting game or a dubbing game: you hear a line, say it your way, and the scene plays back with your voice on every character. More than 1,000 scenes, nothing to install, no account.

What is a voice over game?

A voice over game plays a short clip from a film, a cartoon, an anime or a game with the original voices muted, shows you the line, and records you saying it. When the clip ends it plays your version back over the video, in sync, with your voice where the original actor's used to be. That is the whole game, and it is funnier than it sounds, because nobody reads a line the way the original did.

People call it a voice acting game, a dubbing game, a voice over game or a voice impressions game. They mean the same thing: a game where you dub over movie scenes and the result is the joke. It became a streaming staple in the summer of 2026, when The Choicer Voicer, a downloadable party game, filled Twitch and YouTube with streamers doing every voice in a scene at once.

dubcircus is that game as a website. There is nothing to download and no account to make. You pick a scene, the recording screen walks you through the lines one at a time, and at the end the dub plays back over the video. It is free, it works on a laptop, a desktop or a phone, and every line you record is saved the moment you finish it.

How to play

  1. Pick a scene. More than 1,000 are ready, sorted by how often they have been dubbed: film scenes, cartoons, anime, games, and hundreds of the community packs people know from streams. Or paste a YouTube link and dubcircus makes a scene from it in about a minute.
  2. Hear the line, then record it. Before anything is recorded you hear the first line in the original voice, and only then does the site ask for your microphone. You record one line at a time, with the original there to listen to first, and you do not hear your own dub until the end.
  3. Watch it back and share it. The dub plays over the video with your voice on every character. It gets its own page you can send to anyone, and you can download it as an MP4 for TikTok, YouTube or a group chat.

Three ways to play

Alone
You play every character. The recording screen shows who is speaking, plays the original before each line, and keeps your dub hidden until you watch it back at the end. Most of the laughs come from hearing yourself argue with yourself.
In a room with friends
Open a room and read out its code. Up to eight people join from their own devices, each on their own microphone, with no signup. Everyone records every line at once, nobody hears anybody until the playback, and the room votes for a winner after each scene. A room stays open for seven days.
On stream
Streamer mode connects to your Twitch channel read-only, without asking for permissions. Your chat scores every dub out of five by typing a number, the game keeps its own scoreboard, and you can put scenes up for chat to vote on. It runs in the same browser tab as the game.

Make your own scene

Paste a YouTube link. dubcircus separates the voices from the music, splits the dialogue into lines, and puts you straight into recording. It takes about a minute, and the scene is yours to dub or to publish for everyone else.

That is how most of the scenes on the site were made: someone wanted to dub a moment from a film or a show, pasted the link, and left the scene for the next person.

What you need

A browser and a microphone. Nothing is downloaded or installed, and there is no account to make. Recording needs a secure connection, which dubcircus always uses.

The first time you start a scene, the site plays you the first line, then a Turn on mic button asks for the microphone. Once it is on, a green dot moves with your voice, so you know it works before you record for real.

Phones work. A laptop or desktop with a headset records most cleanly, because the headset keeps the original line out of your recording.

Questions

Is the voice over game free?
Yes. Dubbing, sharing and downloading your dub are free, with no account and no paid tier.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs in the browser on a laptop, desktop or phone. Open a scene, allow the microphone, and record.
Can I play with friends online?
Yes. Open a room, share the four-letter code, and up to eight people dub the same scene from their own devices at the same time. Nobody hears the others until the playback, then the room votes.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Phone browsers record a little differently from each other, so a laptop with a headset records most cleanly, but a phone gets you a dub.
Can I use my own clips?
Yes. Paste a YouTube link and dubcircus turns it into a scene in about a minute, voices separated from the music and the lines already split.
Do I need an account?
No. Dubbing needs no signup. An account only matters if you want your name on your dubs, want to find them again from another device, or want to publish scenes you made.
Is this The Choicer Voicer?
No. The Choicer Voicer is a downloadable game sold on itch.io. dubcircus is an independent, free alternative that runs in the browser, built around the same idea, and is not affiliated with it. Hundreds of the community packs made for that game are playable here.
Is this the same as What The Dub?
No. What The Dub is a paid party game for consoles and PC where players type the lines and a computer voice reads them out. On dubcircus you say the lines yourself, in your own voice, and it is free in the browser.
